State workshops take place in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia during the spring months. These one-day programs usually consist of two to three one-hour presentations/lectures. The state meetings take place at a location within driving distance (two to three hours of automobile travel) for the majority of members in a particular state. Speakers are typically regional, yet lecture on a variety of subjects of national and local interest for the community and regional healthcare institute. In addition, members often use this time to network with fellow microbiologist to compare notes on various issues and discuss relevant topics.
