The culture based diagnosis of urinary tract infection (UTI) presents several challenges
because the diagnosis of UTI is not always straightforward. This workshop will discuss
recent guidelines and recommendations for the collection and processing of urine
specimens, interpretation of culture results, the pros and cons of urinalysis driven
culture, current challenges and potential options for routine urine culture.

A blood culture has alarmed as positive and the physician wants to know what it is as
soon as possible. This workshop focuses on technology to rapidly identify what
organism is causing the blood culture instrument to alarm as positive.

INSTITUTIONAL REGISTRATION/PASS
SEACM offers an Institutional Registration to hospitals to enable employees to attend
selected seminars during the general sessions of the Annual Meeting without registering
multiple individuals. An institution may purchase more than one Institutional Registration.
The Institutional Registration includes ONE each of the following:
Admission to Thursday evening Exhibits
Meeting materials/handouts packet
Friday luncheon ticket
Name badge (must be worn while an individual is attending the meeting).
Additional tickets for the Thursday evening Exhibits ($20.00) and Friday luncheon
($35.00) may be purchased separately. Duplication of meeting materials is the
responsibility of the institution.
It is the responsibility of the institution to transfer the name badge from one individual to
another; however, as a courtesy, the badge and meeting handouts may be left at the
Registration desk for pickup.
Institutional registration is not available for pre-meeting Workshops.
